That’s precisely what made his appearance on the latest episode of That Ends the Week on a High Note all the more compelling. During this chat, the comedian spoke with remarkable candor about several facets of his life, both personal and professional.

He was on the show to talk about his brand-new one-man show, a performance that promises to be unsettling, impactful, and downright hilarious—true to his unfiltered sense of humor.

It was alongside hosts Jean-Michel Anctil and Julie Bélanger that the humorist opened up, with a great deal of candor, about his health.

If I had lost consciousness like my father, I would have died.

He revealed that he had been through an extremely trying period, having recently suffered a stroke as well as a heart attack. A testimony that is at once troubling and moving, shared with clear-eyed honesty.

“It’s for sure, these are traumatic events. The stroke left me with lasting effects. The heart attack, not so much. I’m glad we identified it. My father died of a heart attack at 30. I thought to myself: Gosh, if I had lost consciousness like my father, I would have died. You know, I had a heart attack when I arrived at the hospital, I walked past everyone. Here’s a little tip for you. If you want to go to the front of the ER line, 240 beats per minute for an hour, that does it. And I was joking with the nurses. I would say: Oh gosh, I’m so happy to see such beautiful women like you all because the paramedics tried to rape me. They stripped my clothes, they put suction devices all over me. It’s not pretty, huh. They aren’t pretty. The paramedics were there: Hey, you, we know where you live.,” J-F revealed without any taboos… and true to form, with a touch of sarcasm and humor.

Besides, it’s in his new one-man show that he explains this major life obstacle. He has less than a month left to learn this new bit he added, directly referencing the health scare he endured.

Fortunately, the comedian seems to be doing much better these days and is in good shape, plus he says he’s ready to embark on the big tour for his brand-new one-man show. You can also buy tickets directly on his official website.
