Le Duplex
It’s going to be so much fun!
A veteran comedian who has kept a relatively low profile in recent years, François Massicotte recently delighted his followers by sharing excellent news on Facebook—an announcement that instantly sparked enthusiasm and curiosity.
After making generations of audiences laugh with his sharp, accessible humor always tinged with self-deprecation, he is preparing to take on a new challenge on stage, this time in the theater.
In his post, Massicotte confirmed that he will be at the heart of a brand-new play titled Le Duplex, a project that already promises to turn heads. For the occasion, he will be surrounded by a solid and highly regarded cast: Sylvain Marcel, Valérie Blais and Sophie Faucher.
This quartet of seasoned artists brings together talents that shine just as brightly in comedy as in drama, hinting at a work that will feel alive, rhythmic, and propelled by strong ensemble chemistry.
“It is with great joy that I announce I will have the honor of sharing the stage with Sylvain Marcel, Valérie Blais, and Sophie Faucher in the play Le Duplex, which was a big hit in Paris. We’ll meet starting next summer in L’Assomption and then all across Quebec in 2026! As a certain Sylvain used to say: It’s going to be so much fun! A huge thank you to Eric Young and the Entourage crew for thinking of me,” Massicotte announces.
Still wrapped in mystery regarding its full plot, Le Duplex is shaping up to be a production where the small, everyday moments could turn into big sources of emotion and laughter—a playground that perfectly suits Massicotte’s world.
“Le Duplex, the hilarious comedy by Didier Caron that triumphed in Paris, lands in Quebec for the very first time! With Sophie Faucher, Sylvain Marcel, Valérie Blais, and François Massicotte, get ready to dive into a neighborly war that is utterly funny, with scheming and delicious misunderstandings. Expect plenty of mayhem, bursts of laughter… and neighbors who never saw it coming! Directed by Charles Dauphinais, the play will premiere in July 2026 in L’Assomption, St-Hyacinthe, and Quebec, before touring across the province,” share the production team.
A Unique Dynamic
The collaboration between François Massicotte and Sylvain Marcel took shape—and deepened—along the run of 450, chemin du golf.
Recall that Massicotte played François, while Marcel portrayed Sylvain, the neighbor who was larger than life in the early seasons. Their on-screen dynamic, incredibly natural, quickly won over audiences.
Massicotte has recalled that, even at Sylvain Marcel’s audition, he burst into laughter at his very first line—a sign of a shared comic instinct and an immediate fit between the two men.
Their rapport rested on a contrast that works beautifully: Massicotte as the everyman, a little overwhelmed, Marcel as the neighbor who is bigger-than-life.
Today, the fact that they reunite in the play Le Duplex is a welcome and deeply nostalgic piece of news.
Will you go see this new project? And more importantly, did you watch 450, chemin du golf back in the day?
