In winter, Megève and Courchevel reveal all their splendor, and renting a chalet in these legendary resorts is an invitation to live the season to the fullest. True cocoons, blending generous comfort, refined design, and top-tier services: these houses with a warm atmosphere favor gathering after active and busy days on the slopes.
The view of the snowy peaks, a crackling fireplace, a private spa, and the possibility of a private chef: what else? Karla Miller has gone in search of the finest chalets to rent in France. Luxury and escape guaranteed.
The Fermes Chalet: Le Molitor
Perched in the heart of Megève village, Le Chalet des Fermes (Le Molitor) is first and foremost a family home, that of the Sibuet family.
A house deeply renovated under the guidance of Marie Sibuet and her brother Nicolas, who have blended memory with bold contemporary flair, echoing the spirit of the Fermes de Marie.
You’ll find 330 m² designed to welcome up to ten adults and one child across five warm bedrooms – including a spacious master suite. Every detail, from the bed frames to the decorative objects, crafts the feeling of being at home, complemented by private bathrooms and custom-made wardrobes.
The interior design plays with Alpine spirit, mixing raw materials with arty touches: slate floors, spruce beams adorned with Austrian-inspired friezes, a central fireplace clad in striking green ceramic by artist Franck Lebraly, black-and-white stylized frescoes, vintage furnishings, and Savoyard decorative elements. The result is a striking contrast of textures and colors that creates a joyful, playful atmosphere.
One of our favorites is the living room with its view of the Val d’Arly and the dining room that seats ten, where, at mealtime, you can rely on a catering service or a private chef.
And we love the chance to enjoy the outdoor Nordic bath with its panoramic, unobstructed views before retreating to the dry heat of the sauna, and of course, the option of Pure Altitude—the house line of treatments.
A proper ski room and, for true enthusiasts, a Technogym-equipped fitness room. In addition to 5-star concierge efficiency, there’s a housekeeper (with daily housekeeping, a gourmet breakfast, and a fireside afternoon snack), baby accueil if needed, and a kids’ club for the older children!
And for varying desires, Les Chalets des Fermes offers a wide selection of luxury Megève rentals (from 6 to 15 guests, with spaces from 200 to 1000 m²) featuring an indoor pool, hammam, sauna, jacuzzi, massage room, and gym, all with the hallmark of 5-star hotel service, signed Sibuet.
The Belle Étoile Chalet
Renowned for its curated selection of luxury residences, Le Collectionnist offers Megève some of the most prestigious chalets, blending alpine heritage with a distinctly contemporary design.
Among these gems, the Chalet La Belle Étoile near the Mont d’Arbois snowfront stands out as a striking example of this alchemy between tradition and modernity, combining 1600 m² of mountain tradition with high-end comfort.
Light wood, natural stone, and soft-textured textiles create a warm, intimate atmosphere, enhanced by abundant natural light and offering breathtaking panoramic views of the snowy peaks.
The Alpine spirit is also reflected in carefully chosen decorative elements: handmade rugs, sculptural lighting, and modern art punctuate, without crowding, the living spaces.

Seven spacious bedrooms, as many bathrooms: the chalet accommodates large families. Yet it’s the living room dominated by a statuesque fireplace where everyone gathers after a day on the slopes.
A private spa area with an indoor lap pool, a sauna and a steam room, a treatment room, and a gym, plus a high-tech home cinema and a ski room complete the scene.
Offering a turnkey experience, La Belle Étoile includes dedicated concierge service, a private chef available six days a week to craft menus inspired by local markets, a private driver, and daily housekeeping. Every detail is designed to guarantee an exclusive stay, blending understated luxury with warm hospitality.
The Sarto
It’s Megève’s legendary chalet. Perched on the edge of Calvaire, The Sarto embodies the perfect dialogue between alpine heritage and contemporary elegance.
Designed by Henry Jacques Le Même, the famed architect who helped define savoyard chalet standards in 1941, this pioneering retreat set wide ambitions: large picture windows, every bedroom with its own bathroom, a grand reception area, and a ski-room ahead of its time—standards that drew aristocratic Parisian society visiting in the wake of the Rothschilds.
Renovated in 2024 and reinserted into the Iconic House collection after a stint as a hotel in the 1960s, The Sarto orchestrates its renaissance through Claves Architecture. Laure Gravier and Soizic Fougeront, without altering the original plan, craft a meticulously restored space where every period wood panel sits beside found furniture, while Héloïse Rival’s frescoes and Eloi Schultz’s sculptures orchestrate an Art Deco mountain ambiance—an interior that blends modernist geometry with Nordic folklore.
Over 650 m², the property unfolds 7 suites and a “cabane chic” dorm, able to host up to 13 adults and 2 children, plus a living room with a dramatic fireplace featuring pink enamel, a warm wellness area that blends indoor pool, sauna, steam room, yoga and gym studios, and even a cinema.
Straddling family home and luxury hotel, services go hand in hand: dedicated concierge, a private chef six days a week, on-demand massages, ski equipment delivered on site, and personalized services.
The Saint-James Chalet
Nestled between Nogentil and Bellecôte, The Saint-James, one of the signature properties of the Collectionnist group in Courchevel 1850, sits in a refined natural setting just a short walk from the slopes.
With 310 m², it comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests across five spacious bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom.

What stands out here most? A genuine sense of authenticity, arguably a touch rustic to enhance the cocooning vibe. This mood continues in the main living room, with a broad fireplace, comfortable sofas and armchairs, and a large, plush rug. Barefoot-friendly heated floors invite you to linger. An old-fashioned clock, a polished dresser—the only thing missing is the smoking hot chocolate.
Designed with well-being in mind, the spa features a large jacuzzi and a hammam, plus a small gym. Once the concierge sorts out the details, you’re ready to hit the slopes!
The Coucou Chalets – Méribel
High above Belvédère in Méribel, this 5-star hotel houses two private, standalone chalets, Églantine and Éléonore.
Designed by interior architect Pierre Yovanovitch, these near-600 m² cocoons blend classic Alpine charm with contemporary, pared-down design. Created for exclusive family or friends getaways (up to 12 guests), they offer the luxury of total privacy while still benefiting from the hotel’s adjacent services.
Inside, the expansive spaces are organized around the fireplace with wide picture windows offering panoramic views of the slopes or the Three Valleys valley. These ski-in, ski-out refuges are fully equipped with a private wellness area featuring an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and a massage suite. The experience is completed by a cinema room, 24/7 butler service, and the option of a private chef. For younger guests, the Éléonore chalet even includes a dedicated playroom, making these chalets the perfect mountain hideaways with no constraint.
