Your voice has evolved for the better!
Mario Pelchat has been a fixture of Quebec’s artistic landscape for many years and remains, to this day, one of the public’s favorites. The singer keeps evolving and surprising, whether through his musical projects or his positions on various topics, which at times have sparked their share of discussion — notably the controversy surrounding his vineyard.
A hallmark coach on The Voice for several seasons, Mario continues to leave his mark on the show with his sensitivity, his listening, and his often thoughtful choices. And this year is no exception.
A Familiar Voice
During the latest episode, a particularly notable moment caught everyone’s attention: from the very first notes of an audition, a familiar sound seemed to tickle his ear.
It was an artist named René Lajoie, who delivered a simply magnificent interpretation of Michel Sardou’s song La France.
From the opening notes, Pelchat’s ear seemed oddly familiar with that voice.
That was how Mario Pelchat quickly turned around, visibly drawn in by that recognizable timbre and that distinctive sensitivity.

Not One, But Two Chairs Turned!
Besides, he wasn’t the only one to be charmed, because Corneille also spun his chair to welcome this promising contestant.
That moment prompted the coaches, alongside Mario, to wonder how the two men had known each other.
Roll of Drums!
René then explained that their meeting dated back to 2003, in the big hit musical Don Juan, in which they each played a role.
In fact, Mario offered him a flattering compliment!
“It’s amazing how your voice has evolved for the better since I met you.”

A moment that also led to a lovely surprise: the host of La Voix, Charles Lafortune, offered them two options. Either Mario Pelchat would take the stage to sing Sardou with his old friend, or they would perform Don Juan.
Both chose Sardou, giving the audience a suspended moment, filled with magic and camaraderie.
The big question then remained: which team would René join?
Not surprisingly — or almost — he ultimately joined Mario Pelchat‘s team, much to Corneille‘s dismay.
We wish Mario and his new contestant the best as the competition continues!
