Ryan Reynolds delivered a massive gift to his fans during his appearance at the Fanatics Fest 2026. The Canadian actor confirmed that a fourth Deadpool film is indeed in development at Marvel Studios, instantly reviving the excitement of millions of fans for the infamous wisecracking mercenary.

Following the phenomenal success of Deadpool & Wolverine, which crossed the billion-dollar mark at the global box office and breathed new life into superhero films aimed at adult audiences, the announcement seemed almost inevitable. For now, the project is still in its infancy and no screenwriter or director has been chosen yet.

Ryan Reynolds will, however, return to the role that transformed his career and became one of the Marvel Universe’s most popular characters. Even though no release date has been announced, this confirmation alone is enough to raise expectations.

«There are a few elements that are really underappreciated, in my view, that are missing from the films. I think there are also some that are missing in certain comics. There are passages I love, written by Fabian Nicieza [co-creator of Deadpool], which are incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an amazing comic-book writer. There are projects coming up. There will, ultimately, be another Deadpool movie, even if it’s not right away. It’s going to be awesome,» Ryan Reynolds said into the microphone.

His objective is clear: deliver a fourth film that stays true to the spirit of the comics while offering a fresh, original adventure capable of exceeding fans’ expectations.

Another Monster Box-Office Hit on the Horizon

Since its debut in 2016, the Deadpool franchise has established itself as one of the most lucrative in the history of R-rated films. Produced on a budget of barely $58 million, the first installment surprised by grossing nearly $782 million worldwide.

Two years later, Deadpool 2 did even better with about $786 million, confirming the character’s immense popularity. The real phenomenon, however, arrived in 2024 with Deadpool & Wolverine, which shattered all records by generating more than $1.338 billion worldwide. It became the most profitable R-rated film of all time, surpassing Joker.

With more than $2.9 billion cumulatively from its three films, the franchise now ranks among the biggest commercial successes in the Marvel universe.

An Appearance in Avengers?

Since the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, rumors about Wade Wilson popping up in a forthcoming Avengers film have been piling up.

Several observers believe his integration into Marvel’s mightiest heroes is only a matter of time, especially after his official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speculation points to a possible appearance in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, two projects expected to bring together a host of multiverse characters. Ryan Reynolds recently stoked the talk by noting that Deadpool works particularly well when he’s sharing the stage with other superheroes rather than flying solo. Despite the optimism, Marvel Studios has yet to issue an official confirmation.
