Romie Lacasse May Have Left Star Academy Early, But She Certainly Still Captivates the Audience’s Attention!
Despite exiting the popular talent competition Star Academy early in the season, the stunning Romie Lacasse managed to leave a lasting impression on viewers and fans alike. This summer, her love life has become a hot topic of conversation, sparking rumors and buzz — much like those surrounding her fellow contestants Victoria, Mia, Katrine, and others.
Recently, there has been widespread speculation linking the 20-year-old singer from Gatineau to her fellow contestant and roommate at the Academy, Joël Vogt. The two have been at the center of numerous online headlines and social media posts, but both remain tight-lipped about whether they are indeed a couple. Joël himself has also avoided confirming his relationship status with Janyca, with whom he was previously involved, a story we’ve covered earlier.
A few days ago, during a hot air balloon ride with the cast members of Star Academy, we eagerly brought up the whispers and rumors. Romie and Joël appeared especially close during the event — often standing very near each other, teasing and joking as they enjoyed the experience together.
In fact, witnesses saw Joël lift Romie into his arms and pose for candid photos away from the official cameras, showcasing a playful and affectionate side. The duo even shared a hot air balloon basket during their flight over Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville. Since leaving the show, Romie and Joël have also been seen together at various public events, appearing happy and relaxed in each other’s company.
So, are Romie and Joël a couple?
Joël shrugged off the rumors during our interview, simply stating, “We’re killing those rumors,” with a nervous laugh. He also clarified that he is currently single, adding, “I don’t have a girlfriend right now.”
Romie, meanwhile, decided to have a little fun at the journalist’s expense. Alongside fellow contestant Marc-Antoine Delage, she explained that she and Joël are “just friends.” When pressed further about whether they are “privileged friends,” she reiterated, “Just friends! That’s how it is,” also mentioning that she’s single at the moment.
Later, Marc-Antoine chimed in with his own declaration, when asked if he’s seeing someone:
“I’m in love with Romie!” he proclaimed, wrapping his arms around her.
He then added with a grin, “Come on, let’s shut down these rumors! I’ve turned straight!”
So, the question remains: is Romie leaning toward Joël, or is she more interested in Marc-Antoine? The betting odds are open for debate. When it comes to a potential “relationship” involving Romie and Marc-Antoine, Joël simply had this to say:
“I support them, honestly!”
Romie, Joël, Marc-Antoine, and the entire Star Academy crew will be performing at upcoming outdoor events — including the Festivent in Lévis on August 2, the Osiko Light Festival in Rouyn-Noranda on August 6, and the St-Jean-sur-Richelieu International Hot Air Balloon Festival on August 15.
On a personal note, both Romie and Joël, as well as Marc-Antoine, are currently working on their own musical projects. Marc-Antoine is also busy with his newly launched YouTube channel, keeping himself active both on and off the stage.
The summer’s buzz might be about love, but these talented artists are clearly focused on making their mark in the music scene — with or without a romantic storyline.
