“Sometimes it can take two years. I don’t write for six months, a year, two years, and all of a sudden a lot of things come out at once (…) For instance, during the pandemic, I was alone at home, we couldn’t go out much, and I figured: Okay, we’ll write to pass the time. Over the course of a week, I might have written nine songs all at once. I stopped knowing what time it was, day or night, I would fall asleep listening to snippets of songs, I’d wake up because I had a flash. That’s kind of the fun of being in that dizzying state, but if you keep doing that, then when you rejoin society, when you come back to the normal world, it’s very brutal. It’s very hard to be in that state and to communicate normally with people, so I rarely go there anymore,” Pierre Lapointe explains.

Between Quebec and France, Pierre Lapointe leads a notably busy musical career. The artist splits his time between these two territories to present his tour Old-Fashioned Songs for Those with Broken Hearts, a project he holds close to his heart.
