Miss Universe 2025: French contestant Eve Gilles dubbed “an idiot” amid a feud as several contestants threaten to quit

The 6th of December, thirty beauty queens will march onto the Zenith stage in Amiens (Somme) with one goal in mind: to be crowned Miss France 2026 and succeed Angélique Angarni-Filopon. But before that happens, another beauty contest is gearing up. It’s Miss Universe. The 74th edition will take place on November 21 in Thailand. 125 contestants from around the world will be vying for the coveted crown, which, up to now, has been held by Danish titleholder Victoria Kjær Theilvig.
France will then be represented by Ève Gilles, Miss France 2024, who has already flown to Bangkok where, in the coming days, she will be preparing for the big day alongside her fellow contestants. The schedule promises to be packed and will include interviews, catwalks, and photo sessions. In fact, the 125 beauty queens have already gathered for a preparatory meeting on Tuesday, November 4—a filmed gathering that was shared on social media.
Since then, the video has gone viral… Why? Because the Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil took aim at Miss Mexico. He criticized Fátima Bosch for not posting content that promotes Thailand as the host country, as arranged with her national director. And then, the tone escalated…

Miss Universe: Mexico’s contestant branded as “idiot”

It’s a piece of publicity that the pageant organizers certainly would have preferred to skip. In this video, one can see the stunning Mexican contestant trying to defend herself… in vain. She was immediately labeled an “idiot” by Nawat Itsaragrisil. Even more, he directly requested security to intervene to have the Miss removed.
Inside the venue, other beauty queens reacted with outrage at this unjust decision. In solidarity, some of them chose to leave the premises along with their fellow contestant. Nawat Itsaragrisil then invited the young women to return—“except Mexico”—because they “talk too much.”
Fátima Bosch, however, spoke up, visibly stunned: “I deeply love Thailand, I respect you all […] but what your director just did is not respectful. He called me ‘idiot’ because he has problems with the organization. It isn’t fair because I’m here […] I’m trying to give my best […] What he did is not OK.” The 25-year-old received applause after her remarks.

It remains to be seen whether this confrontation will have any consequences for the rest of the competition. Already, in response, the official Miss Universe Organization (MUO) Facebook page published a statement translated into Thai, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the global event is a success.
