A Charismatic Contestant with a Bright Future Ahead
His humor and his ability to bring people together have made him one of the most beloved participants of the recent Star Academy season, and it appears that the months to come are full of promise for Joël Vogt!
A Major Step in His Music Career
Indeed, the 25-year-old has just taken a significant leap forward in his budding career: he has signed a contract with the renowned record label Musicor, which will support him in producing his upcoming projects.
Joël shared this exciting news during an interview, which took place amid the soaring hot air balloons of the Star Academy contestants, as they prepared for their performance at the International Balloon Festival in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu scheduled for August.
Exclusive Partnership with Musicor
Joël Vogt is now among the select group of alumni from Star Academy that the Quebec-based production company affiliated with Québecor has chosen to continue working with. Not all graduates of the show have the opportunity for ongoing collaboration with Musicor, making this a notable milestone.
From the 2025 cohort, it is known that the winner, Mia Tinayre, also secured a recording contract with Musicor as part of her grand prize, which included a $100,000 scholarship. Other contestants from the recent season are said to be in negotiations with the label, while some may not have been selected at all.
What’s Next for Joël Vogt?
For now, Joël is still letting the incredible experience at Star Academy settle in before diving into new commitments. He splits his time between playing guitar and helping out on his parents’ farm in La Visitation, whenever his schedule allows.
In an interview with Hollywood PQ, he explained, “I’ve done a few shows since leaving, but not as many as I did before. I’m taking this time to write songs.”
Although he hasn’t announced a specific release date for an album under his name, Joël is very clear about the musical direction he wants to pursue:
“I’m not going to abandon my country roots! That’s what I’ve always done,” said the young artist, who is an avid fan of Chris Stapleton, Zach Bryan, Matt Lang, and Francis Degrandpré. He emphasized his desire to write and compose his own material, staying true to his style.
The Public and Personal Feedback
What kind of feedback has Joël primarily received from fans and friends since his departure from Star Academy?
He shared, “People tell me I’ve stayed true to myself! Especially my close friends and family—they said I remained authentic throughout the show. Maybe I wasn’t the most polished performer, but I believe I was one of the most genuine.”
Dealing with Constructive Criticism
Has he been affected by the minor criticisms he received, such as Garou’s comments directed at him and his friend Laurence, which aired during prime time on TVA, where the show’s director pointed out their nonchalance and lack of seriousness?
Joël responded without hesitation: “No, because that’s just part of the experience! I have no bad memories—only good ones.”
Upcoming Performances
The Star Academy cast will be performing live at various events in August: on August 2nd at the Festivent in Lévis, on August 6th at the Osiko Festival in Rouyn-Noranda, and on August 15th at the International Balloon Festival in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
