The National Federation of the Orders of Nursing Professions (FNOPI) expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Professor Gian Franco Gensini.
Formerly a professor of Internal Medicine and Cardiology, he served as the dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Florence and held numerous prestigious appointments. Among these, he was the coordinator of the Advisory Board for the National Guideline System, where he distinguished himself as a steadfast and loyal advocate for the role of nurses within the Italian National Institute of Health.
An innovator with a broad vision, he enthusiastically participated in FNOPI’s latest National Congress in Rimini, contributing significantly to the creation of the “Simulation Training Village” initiative, a project that engaged attendees and drew wide interest.
The President of FNOPI, Barbara Mangiacavalli, states: «In all institutional and professional settings, Gensini has represented an authoritative and constant reference, up to the very end, including on emerging topics like digital health. To his family and to all who had the privilege of knowing him and working with him, the nursing community extends its deepest condolences.»
