Carla Bruni: Nicolas Sarkozy Convicted, Former First Lady Stuns at Saint Laurent Runway Show

The September 25, 2025 is a date the Sarkozy couple isn’t about to forget anytime soon. Indeed, on that day the Paris criminal court sentenced Nicolas Sarkozy to five years in prison for “criminal association”, having “let his associates” press Muammar Gaddafi’s Libya to fund his victorious 2007 presidential campaign. Of course, when he appeared at the podium, the former head of state could rely on the support of his close entourage. His wife, Carla Bruni, and their sons were there.
Carla Bruni, who, as the courtroom exited, delivered a bold gesture that quickly circulated on social media. After the former president spoke to the media, she left the venue symbolically tearing off the foam windscreen of Mediapart’s microphone. The investigative journalists behind the Mediapart site are at the root of the inquiry that ultimately raised legal eyebrows for Nicolas Sarkozy. That moment is clearly not something the 57-year-old singer and former model intends to forget.
Thus, for five days now, she and her family have been sleeping particularly poorly. So, to take her mind off things, she attended the opening show of Paris Fashion Week. On Monday, September 29, she went to preview the Spring/Summer 2026 collection by Yves Saint Laurent at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

Carla Bruni Sparkling at the Yves Saint Laurent Show

If other houses have seen a few upheavals (Christian Louboutin, Balenciaga, Dior, Gucci, …), at Yves Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello was reconfirmed. He is the designer behind this new, floral-heavy collection. For the occasion, several prestigious guests made the trip, including Catherine Deneuve, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Virginie Efira, and, of course, Carla Bruni. With a smile on her lips, the former singer of Quelqu’un qui m’a dit made a splash on arrival.
Indeed, her look left no one indifferent. For the occasion, the mother of three opted for a ultra-fluid yellow dress. Additionally, at the start of autumn, she chose a honey-brown fur coat. Finally, to complete this bold look, Carla Bruni appeared before photographers with brown sunglasses on her nose and oversized gold earrings.
For the record, Paris Fashion Week will run until October 7. 74 shows are scheduled. On September 30, Louis Vuitton will take the stage next, followed by Dior and Balmain the day after.
