The race for the Emmy Awards is officially underway. On Wednesday, the Television Academy revealed the nominations for the 78th annual ceremony, confirming a year rich with television series. Between newly launched shows making their mark, longtime favorites continuing to win over voters, and a few notable omissions, the lineup promises a night full of surprises.

This year, Apple TV+ stands out as a major winner among the nominations thanks to several of its new series. The shows Pluribus, Margo’s Got Money Troubles and Widow’s Bay have all managed to carve out significant placements across multiple categories. Meanwhile, The Pitt continues its impressive domination in the drama categories, amassing a total of 25 nominations, the most for any series this year.

The HBO Max medical drama confirms its status as the new Emmy favorite, as its cast earns multiple individual nominations. The series is in the running for Outstanding Drama Series against The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, Slow Horses and Your Friends & Neighbors.
