Following the grand finale of Survivor Québec, Isabelle Gauvin, a finalist in the latest edition, sat down for an interview with Radio X, where she looked back on her journey, a path that clearly did not go unnoticed.

During the interview, the host asked her about the negative comments and the hate she received on social media while the show aired, as she watched the episodes from home.

Isabelle noted that those comments didn’t really affect her, since she was already used to this kind of reaction due to her prior television experiences, notably her appearance on the reality show Vie$ de rêve.

One of the topics that sparked the most reaction throughout the journey is undoubtedly her financial situation. Later in the interview, the host asked whether, like her and Luc Poirier, who travel a lot, she had noticed if this kind of reaction was also present outside Quebec.

Much less elsewhere. We own a house in Florida, and over there, the mentality is different. (…) My neighbors, we’ve lived in the same neighborhood for a long time. You know, a pat on the back, it’s appreciated, it’s congratulatory. You know, whether you like it or not, often people who have a lot of money are… well, they’re usually entrepreneurs. It creates jobs. (…) You know, the big donors to foundations are the ones who make the most money. (…) Not everyone can give millions either, so I think that, in most other countries, it’s different. (…) There will always be jealousy or hatred, but in Quebec, it’s much more blatant,” she says.

On the other hand, if you look at social media, I’d say that since the Survivor finale there’s really been a shift in people. I mean, I read the comments, and it’s much nicer than before. I’ve been getting thousands of messages, and you know, I don’t yet have time to reply to everyone (…),” she testifies, explaining that she’s received many messages from people who admit they initially judged her and didn’t understand her presence in the adventure. Many tell her that as the episodes progressed, they discovered a very different side of her personality.

Schemes During the Adventure?

One of the hosts also asked her whether, during the adventure, there had been any scheming or, at the very least, offers along those lines.

«Libre à toi de me répondre la vérité ou non, mais, pour de vrai, je veux savoir s’il y a quelqu’un (…) sur l’île qui t’a offert… d’échanger un peu le prix en argent contre ta participation jusqu’à la fin», questionne l’animateur.

«Ah, well no, no, no», asserts Isabelle immediately.

«No scheming», says one of the hosts.

«Really not. No, no. And you know, I might not have been comfortable saying it, but you know, I’m not the kind to tell lies either. So, no. No, no, no, that, no», she reiterates.
