It was a night when the channel paid a visit
It was a very special evening on the set of Ça finit bien la semaine, as the team celebrated the 400th episode of this beloved Quebec talk show. For the occasion, Gino Chouinard was there—and not just as a guest.
He was also stepping in for Julie Bélanger, who recently announced health challenges.
A Night Without Taboo and Plenty of Laughter
Together with Jean-Michel Anctil, Gino welcomed Mikaël Gouin and Philippe Laprise for an episode marked by roaring laughter and confidences. The atmosphere was relaxed, collaborative, faithful to the spirit of the talk show.
Recall that Gino no longer has to rise in the wee hours of the morning, having bid farewell to Salut Bonjour more than a year ago. The morning program is now hosted by Ève‑Marie Lortie. A return to a late-night studio seems to suit him perfectly.
From Salut Bonjour to Festive Evenings: Gino in Late‑Night Mode!
That’s at least what Jean-Michel hinted, revealing that his longtime friend now lengthens the evenings… and even sticks around to celebrate.
“What I find fun… Now that Gino doesn’t have to get up at the crack of dawn, you can enjoy the parties with us, and watch Gino cut loose,” Jean-Michel teased, with his mischievous side.
“What do you mean by that, exactly?” asks Gino.

The Cat Comes Out of the Bag
“Well, the last Christmas party, you were a little drunk,” reveals Jean-Michel.
“A little drunk, yes,” confirmed the former host of Salut Bonjour.
“He wandered around and then… you wandered… and he kept saying: ‘Hey, this is fun, right? Are we at a party?’ It was nonjudgmental,” confided Anctil, who was clearly happy to see his buddy let loose.
“I had forgotten… Yes, that was one of those nights when the channel showed up. It’s worth noting that when I left my night shift schedule, in the first months, I would go to bed at exactly midnight and one in the morning… I felt like the most intimidating bum in Montreal just for going to bed… A teenager, a teenager,” finishes Gino, clearly living a completely different lifestyle at the time.

A memorable, entertaining moment on the show Ça finit bien la semaine. We’re indeed happy to discover a cooler, more boisterous side of Gino.
We also wish the best for Julie Bélanger, who has faced tougher health moments. We hope to see her back on the show very soon.
