2025 Therapy Subsidy: Who Qualifies and How to Apply

From September 15 through November 14, 2025, you can submit your request on the INPS website at www.inps.it to benefit from the Psychologist Bonus 2025.

The initiative is aimed at people facing depression, anxiety, stress, psychological fragility, or those who feel the need to undertake a psychotherapy path, and offers financial support of up to €1,500. The bonus covers up to €50 per psychotherapy session with private, board-certified therapists, including those who operate online.

Mental health is gaining increasing importance, as shown by the post-pandemic period, which saw a rise in psychological distress in the population and a growing demand for help. To support people experiencing depression, anxiety, and stress, helping to cover the costs of psychotherapy sessions, the Psychologist Bonus was created.

Introduced by Decree-Law No. 162 of December 30, 2021, the contribution is now a structural measure.

Doctors can play a key role in early detection of signs of psychological distress, guiding patients toward psychotherapy paths also thanks to financial support tools like the Psychologist Bonus.

How the Psychologist Bonus 2025 works

The government has allocated a €9.5 million fund for the 2025 bonus. The contribution is granted only once and allows a discount of up to €50 per session. The amount varies based on your ISEE value. Additionally, starting this year, the bonus is permanent, meaning no further renewals will be required.

Who is it for?

The Psychologist Bonus 2025 is aimed at people going through a moment of fragility:

  • of all ages,
  • residing in Italy,
  • with a valid ISEE not exceeding €50,000.

The amount of the contribution varies according to the individual’s ISEE income band:

  • ISEE income band up to €15,000: €1,500;
  • ISEE income band from €15,000 to €30,000: €1,000;
  • ISEE income band from €30,000 to €50,000: €500.

How to apply?

Applications to receive the contribution must be submitted exclusively online through the INPS website or, alternatively, via the contact center at 803164 (landline) or 06164164 (mobile).

People who have already submitted an application for previous years do not need to submit a new one. In fact, INPS has already proceeded with rolling over the rankings starting April 15, 2025, using the additional funds allocated for the bonus.

At the end of the application period, INPS will publish regional and autonomous provincial rankings. Beneficiaries will be identified according to the ISEE value, giving priority to applicants in the lower income bands, and the order of application: if ISEE values are equal, priority is given to the earlier submissions.

How to use the grant?

Each beneficiary will receive a unique code required to use the contribution. This code must be provided to the psychotherapist for every session.

To use the assigned code and benefit from the Psychologist Bonus, there is a period of 270 days (9 months) from the date the application is accepted.

At the end of this period, if not fully utilized, the code will be automatically canceled and any leftover resources will be reallocated, in keeping with the order of the ranking, to identify new beneficiaries.

After obtaining the 2025 Psychologist Bonus, the INPS platform will show the list of therapists who joined the initiative, organized by region, province, and municipality.
