Virginie Coossa: I Had Lost My Zest for Life

I decided I had to act.

Virginie Coossa recently shared a post on her social media channels, highlighting a special day and revealing that she has made a significant decision.

Virginie Coossa marked a milestone by celebrating her fourth month without alcohol. In a message to her community, she confided that she had chosen to quit drinking, a decision driven, in part, by a very specific reason.

Indeed, she explains that the decision was propelled by the effects that alcohol was having on her: it made her melancholic and left her with sad mornings.

Moreover, she says she noticed she could no longer find her usual joie de vivre.

Her Testimony

“4 MONTHS OF SOBRIETY! I want to share this today. I no longer drink alcohol. Yet it has been an important and joyful part of my life. But when alcohol started to make me melancholic and after even 2-3 glasses of wine I had sad mornings ( hello menopause), I decided that I had to act. I didn’t hit rock bottom or anything like that, but I FELT that I no longer had my usual joy of living. So I stopped. And like many people who are on this path, I have no regrets. Of course, there are moments that are really challenging!!! but I gain so many benefits from not drinking that the positives far outweigh the small moments of cravings. And above all, I feel like myself, I recognize myself again. I don’t have the goal of never drinking again, but if I eventually start again, it will be ONE glass here and there, on New Year’s Eve or at my birthday, for example. For now, I’m doing well like this and I’m proud of myself. If you’re thinking about stopping, tell yourself that it isn’t impossible.”

A Common Choice

It’s worth noting that she isn’t the only public figure to make this choice: several others have also taken the same path, including Amélie B. Simard.

In fact, Amélie recently shared a post celebrating a major milestone on her personal journey: her twelfth year of sobriety.

On her social media, the actress opened up about the path that led her to be abstinent today, to rediscover herself, and to understand herself better.

She spoke about how positive this personal choice has proven to be, in every aspect of her life.

Congratulations and Best Wishes

Congratulations to Virginie Coossa for listening to herself, for making this decision, and above all for sticking with it for four months now. It takes courage, clarity, and true inner strength to choose what is good for oneself, then to maintain it daily, despite doubts, habits, and the judgments of others. Bravo for this journey and for remaining true to herself.

And congratulations to all the other people for whom this choice was right. Everyone moves at their own pace, with their reasons and his or her own reality, but when a decision brings more peace, balance, and wellbeing, it deserves to be acknowledged.
