Renzo Iorio has been named the new president of Federterme Confindustria, the association that has represented Italy’s thermal spa system since 1919. Iorio succeeds Massimo Caputi at the helm.
A Key Sector for Health and Well-Being
The thermal sector occupies a leading role in health and well-being. In fact, clinical studies have shown that thermal therapies can provide benefits to patients suffering from rheumatic diseases.
The therapeutic value of spa treatments was emphasized by Iorio in his first remarks.
Under my presidency, we will strengthen the defense of spas featuring authentic thermal waters, safeguarding their exclusive therapeutic value, and we will drive an ambitious scientific research program—with advanced clinical studies, randomized trials, and collaborations with universities and health institutions—to validate the therapeutic properties of the waters, innovate clinical applications, and place thermalism at the forefront of evidence-based medicine, integrating it with sustainable tourism and wellness.
