Rome is gearing up to host a major event for the international scientific and healthcare community: the 12th ARTOI Congress and the second SIO Europe Congress. From May 8 to 10, the gathering returns, dedicated to healthcare professionals engaged in holistic cancer care, offering a unique opportunity to update and exchange on the latest developments in integrated oncology. Leading experts from across Europe and the Middle East will share knowledge, clinical experience, and future perspectives, helping to shape an approach that is increasingly comprehensive and personalized for cancer patients.
Plenary Sessions
Plenary sessions form the heart of the conference, bringing to the main stage the broad, cross-disciplinary visions of integrated oncology. From history and cultural dimensions to cutting-edge scientific innovations and international health policies, crucial topics will be addressed, including precision medicine, the application of artificial intelligence in integrated oncology, the role of liquid biopsy, and the impact of the microbiome on cancer development and progression.
A substantial portion will also be devoted to the synergy of phytotherapy and the opportunities and challenges of integrated oncology in European and Middle Eastern contexts, with careful attention to the perspectives offered by the European Union and the World Health Organization. A highlight will be the roundtable on dialogue between traditional oncology and integrated oncology, featuring representatives from major organizations such as ESMO, AIOM, ESTRO, AIRO, and SIO Europe.
Workshops
Alongside the plenary sessions, the conference will offer a rich program of practical workshops, with more than twenty sessions designed to provide concrete tools and immediately applicable in clinical practice. Topics include the use of mistletoe and saffron in integrated oncology, homeopathy, shiatsu, and the role of physical activity in therapeutic pathways. There will also be in-depth exploration of integrating osteopathy into care plans, aspects related to spiritual healing and self-healing, and the management of chemotherapy-induced neuropathies.
There will be contributions on more innovative and frontier areas, such as quantum medicine in global health, factors driving stem cell differentiation, and the exposome of toxic metals. Particular attention will also be given to the role of nurses in integrated oncology in Europe and the Middle East, as well as regional organizational models like those promoted by Komen Italia and Onconauti.
Parallel Sessions
In parallel, there will be fourteen thematic sessions dedicated to specific clinical areas, spanning the entire spectrum of integrated oncology. Among them are hyperthermia, medical cannabis, integrated palliative oncology, psycho-oncology, and coaching, as well as topics on clinician burnout and resilience. Additional discussions will cover integrative nutrition and phytonutrition, integrative endocrinology, movement and manual therapies, prehabilitation and rehabilitation for cancer patients. The program will also include in-depth looks at acupuncture, integrated oncology nursing, integrated hematology, homeopathy, and preclinical and clinical research.
The event thus confirms itself as a major gathering point for professionals in the field, fostering interdisciplinary exchange and promoting an approach to cancer care that is increasingly integrated, humane, and patient-centered.
