University of Milan and Human Technopole have signed a new agreement aimed at a strategic, long-term collaboration in science and education. The pact strengthens the cooperative pathway developed in recent years between the two institutions. The agreement supersedes and replaces the previous one, defining more effective modes of collaboration with the goal of supporting the development of future initiatives.
Objectives of the Collaboration
The six-year agreement aims to promote especially joint activities across the main domains of scientific research, with specific reference to Life Sciences, materials science, biomedical sciences, and environmental sciences, in order to strengthen the already close collaboration within MIND – Milan Innovation District, where the University of Milan’s new science campus will stand beside Human Technopole, creating an integrated ecosystem of research, innovation, and education at an international level.
«The renewal of the agreement with the Human Technopole Foundation confirms the solidity of a collaboration that can generate value for Italy’s research and innovation system. Within the MIND ecosystem, we share the ambition to build a unique environment where scientific, technological, and educational capabilities can integrate and reinforce each other. I deeply believe that the grand challenges of our time, from health to sustainability, from digital transformation to scientific competitiveness, require strategic alliances among institutions capable of pooling vision, knowledge, and infrastructures. This renewal represents not only the continuity of a successful path but also an investment in the future of research and Italy’s ability to play a leading role on the international stage», explained the Rector of the University of Milan Marina Brambilla.
The Memorandum envisions, beyond the development of joint research projects, to be realized also through participation in national and international competitive calls, the mobility of personnel, reciprocal access to infrastructures and research laboratories, the definition of common training programs, and the organization of scientific events such as seminars, workshops, and symposia .

The new agreement defines a solid framework to unite complementary competencies, share advanced scientific infrastructures, and develop new joint projects, while offering students and young researchers an interdisciplinary environment in which to train, exchange ideas and projects and contribute to addressing some of the major health and life sciences challenges», emphasized Marino Zerial, Director of Human Technopole.
