Influencers on Revenue Quebec’s Radar? Vincent from OD Sounds the Alarm.

A WARNING to influencers who don’t know how to manage their finances…

On social media, former Occupation Double contestant Vincent Beauregard recently posted a video in which he issues a warning to content creators. After receiving a letter from Revenu Québec, he speaks up to remind people of their tax obligations and to warn those who might “get burned” if they aren’t up to date on the rules.

In his video, the personality lays out everything content creators must declare, especially those who receive various gifts and promotional items as part of their work.

“This is a message for all the influencers in Quebec. You’ve probably received this letter, just like me. In fact, I think every Quebec resident has gotten it… Revenu Québec sends us a letter saying: Better understand your tax responsibilities as a content creator. Basically, what it means, from now on, or maybe always, but clearly, the government wants this to happen live, you now have to declare everything—your income—as a content creator. Here are examples of content you must declare: ads on social media, paid subscriptions to your content, sales of merch, gifts/promotional items, tips, and anything received as PR packages, or any other type of content, like collaborations, such as housing, you know, for your rent, and similar things, or free kitchen experiences… Influencers, if you don’t know how to handle this, text me, I’ve got the reference for you all,” he says.

He explains the reasons behind his decision to speak out

Following this public post, the content creator shared a story in which he reiterates that he and his partner, Noémie Marleau, have no concerns about the issue. He notes that the purpose of his video was simply to warn people who might be affected by this letter, to prevent any unpleasant surprises.

Guys… I think a lot of people didn’t understand the message in my video from yesterday that sparked so much reaction. It was a WARNING to influencers who don’t know how to manage their finances (taxes, etc.). Noémie and I are lucky to be well supported thanks to the Elevate Capital team. I’ll be making another video a bit later today,” he states.

Moreover, in the comments under his video, he asserts that “a good gang” could get burned, hinting that many would fail to comply with the required declarations.

Revisiting a post that shocked some online viewers

It’s worth noting that before this public statement, the former reality TV contestant had already made another remark that sparked confusion and even surprised some online users by sharing what he called an “unpopul ar opinion.”

“Am I the only one who hates baby showers? It’s clearly designed just to receive gifts, so it’s like: Hey! What’s up, we’re friends, we love each other, or, you know, we don’t see each other very often, but we love each other anyway, and we invite you because we want gifts. Essentially, we all know this is what it is. Personally, I’m not into it at all. I find it tacky, and it requires a lot of organization and planning for one day, an afternoon. So what do you think? Am I the only one who feels this way? That whole thing just grates on me,” he said, not mincing his words.

In the comments, reactions quickly piled up: some sided with him, others did not. A few internet users even pointed out an inconsistency in his statements, referring to a recent online moment: a post from his girlfriend asking her community for help with an event.

In short, Revenu Québec seems intent on clarifying the rules—and several people could end up paying the price. To be continued!
