Clodine Desrochers, a Film Actress?
You read that correctly: the former host of The Seasons of Clodine and a contestant (and winner) in the 2024 edition of Get Me Out of Here! is taking on a role in the film A Thousand Secrets, A Thousand Dangers, an adaptation of the Alain Farah novel of the same title (released in 2021) directed by Philippe Falardeau, which has just hit theaters.
The story of A Thousand Secrets, A Thousand Dangers centers on the marriage of a young couple, Alain (Neil Elias) and Virginie (Rose-Marie Perreault), which becomes the stage for a slew of twists and turns, driven in particular by the groom’s anxiety issues and Édouard’s grandiose schemes, Édouard being the cousin and best friend of the groom.
In this sprawling family portrait, Clodine Desrochers plays the mother of the bride, Virginie, portrayed by Rose-Marie Perreault. When you put Clodine Desrochers next to Rose-Marie Perreault, there’s no denying there’s a real resemblance between the two women. It’s the blonde hair and the delicate features that Clodine and Rose-Marie share, which tipped the scales in Clodine’s favor when the role was cast.
“Humblingly, I only say one line in the entire film, but I’m seen a lot because I’m the bride’s mother, and it happens on the wedding day!” Clodine Desrochers explained in an interview on the red carpet before the film’s Montreal premiere a few days ago (see our photos here!).
“The casting director wanted to find a woman who looked like Rose-Marie Perreault. He figured I looked like her two peas in a pod. The next day, my agent sent him my demo. It happened in tandem, as if the stars had aligned!”
The actress also noted that she loved her experience filming under the direction of the esteemed Philippe Falardeau.
“Ten days of extraordinary work!” she exclaimed. “It was a gift for me to witness professionals at work. It was fantastic. Really, amazing. I’m very happy!”
This isn’t the first time Clodine Desrochers has tapped into her acting talents. She also appeared in 2023 in the film The Purgatory of the Intimates, by Philippe Cormier, with Normand D’Amour and Sonia Vachon, among others. The following year, she surfaced in the dramatic comedy From Stone to Daughter, alongside Julianne Côté and Patrice Robitaille. She says she is very, very open to returning to the camera if another opportunity presents itself!
A Thousand Secrets, A Thousand Dangers is currently showing in more than 50 cinemas across Quebec.
